COVID-19 Grants

There are grants available from central government and other organisations to help support businesses through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Small Business Grants

Grants of £10k have been made available from Central Government to small businesses. These are relief grants to help small businesses through the COVID-19 period, they do not have to be paid back. They are being paid through your local authority, Harborough District Council.

Eligibility:

  • you are a business that occupies property
  • Businesses who’s premises qualifies for small business rate relief. This means if the rateable value of your business is under £15k. Not sure of your rateable value? You can check this here.
  • Business who qualify for rural rate relief.
  • your business is based in England

Harborough District Council are currently contacting businesses who they think should be eligible for the Small Business Grant and the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grants and advising them on how to apply for the grants.

Retail, Hospitality and Leisure

COVID-19 has seriously affected the tourism, hospitality and leisure sector, therefore central government are offering grants to eligible businesses. If you are in this sector you could be eligible for a £25k grant.

Eligibility:

  • Businesses with a property that has rateable value between £15-£51k
  • Your business is based in England
  • Your business is in the retail, hospitality and/or leisure sector

Properties that will benefit from the relief will be occupied properties that are wholly or mainly being used:

  • as shops, restaurants, cafes, drinking establishments, cinemas and live music venues
  • for assembly and leisure
  • for hospitality, as hotels, guest & boarding premises or self-catering accommodation

Harborough District Council are currently contacting businesses who they think should be eligible for the Small Business Grant and the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grants and advising them on how to apply for the grants.

Businesses in these sectors with a property that has a rateable value of up to £15,000 may be eligible for the Small Business Grant of £10,000 instead.

The Government has also introduced a business rates holiday for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses and nurseries in England for the 2020 to 2021 tax year.

Enterprise Relief Fund

The Princes Trust and Natwests £5million Enterprise Relief Fund will offer grants to 18 to 30-year olds across the UK who are self-employed and/or running their own business. In conjunction with cash grants, the initiative will offer one-to-one support and guidance to anyone who needs it and who may be worried about their future.

Innovation Grant

UK registered businesses can apply for a share of up to £20 million to respond to new and urgent needs in UK and global communities during and following the Covid-19 pandemic.

The project must be focused on a clearly innovative and ambitious idea, which would realistically and significantly meet a societal need that has emerged or increased due to the Covid-19 pandemic or the need of an industry that has been severely impacted and/or permanently disrupted.
