Harborough Rural Grant Scheme – Green Technology

The Harborough Rural Grant Scheme is opening on Wednesday 21 June 2023 and will close on Monday 11 September 2023. Eligible businesses located in rural areas of Harborough District (as identified in the policy) could benefit from capital grants between £5,000-£20,000 to support their business to diversify, innovate and grow.

The Green Technology scheme aims to support businesses to invest in energy efficient and low carbon technologies. This means businesses can invest in green technology that will improve their carbon footprint. Businesses could also use this funding to develop their own green technology which can be used to improve the carbon footprint of their business and/or other businesses.

Examples: Investment in renewable energy generation, or Electric Vehicle charging provision.

SHIRE Environment Grant

Do you have a new innovative project that aims to run in a green way? You could be eligible for funding from the SHIRE Environment grant, provided by Leicestershire County Council.

They are particularly interested in projects that meet one or more of the grant scheme outcomes which include:

  • To reduce the amount of household waste produced in Leicestershire
  • To reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions within communities
  • To improve biodiversity and support the creation, protection, enhancement and management of sustainable green spaces
  • To raise awareness and understanding on the above outcomes as well as providing necessary training and skills to manage and support projects.

Food and drink manufacturers

Food and drink manufacturers support
If you are a food or drink manufacturer based in Leicestershire you can take advantage of this new service which aims to support your business towards decarbonization.

The Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) Growth Hub working in partnership with the Food and Drink Forum who will provide a fully funded, specialist service to support your journey to net zero.

Stage 1: A specialist decarbonisation team will visit your premises to carry out an audit of your food or drink production site. This will give them a better understanding of what you produce, your processes and the possibilities available for working towards zero carbon. (Time = 2 hours).

Stage 2: You will be given an Action Plan tailored to your business which will include a range of suggestions that will have a positive impact on your business and the environment. If additional support is required they will organise this in line with the Action Plan. (Time = 4 hours).

Boiler Upgrade Scheme 

The government is providing grants to encourage property owners to install low carbon heating systems such as heat pumps, through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS). These grants can help property owners overcome the upfront cost of low carbon heating technologies.

The scheme is open to domestic and small non-domestic properties in England and Wales. It runs from 2022 to 2025.

You can get:

  • £5,000 off the cost and installation of an air source heat pump
  • £5,000 off the cost and installation of a biomass boiler
  • £6,000 off the cost and installation of a ground source heat pump

You can get one grant per property.

Low-emission vehicles

You can get a discount on the price of brand new low-emission vehicles through a grant the government gives to vehicle dealerships and manufacturers.

Only vehicles that have been approved by the government are eligible.

The discount you can get depends on the type of vehicle.

The types of eligible vehicles are:

  • wheelchair accessible vehicles
  • motorcycles and mopeds
  • small and large vans
  • small and large trucks
  • taxis
